Community Publishing Think-in at Cubitt

Thursday 25th July, 5 - 7 PM.

Calling all local gossips, activists, artists, local historians, community storytellers, writers, makers, and more!

This is open to everyone but we’re especially interested in meeting folks who live or work in the borough of Islington, who might be interested in helping us steward the project.

Building on a rich history of radical publishing in Islington, Cubitt is thinking about opening a community press to share stories, publish alternative histories,  and to support social justice projects, independent writers, and artists.

Join us to talk about Cubitt’s upcoming community publishing projects and think with us about what it would mean to host a press within our gallery and artist co-op.

In this first think-in, we will gather folks interested in collectively run publishing projects, and think together about what this would look like at Cubitt. In this session, we will explore histories of radical community publishing in Islington, try some simple self-publishing methods, and discuss what the next steps could be.

A vegan, gluten-free meal will be served after the meeting.

As there's limited capacity for this event, we're prioritising people with a connection to Islington. If you'd like to, please share your relationship to the borough by emailing: [email protected]
