Tribute: Tom Paley, 19/03/1928 – 30/09/2017

Last week, we were very saddened to hear of the death of our lovely friend and neighbour Tom Paley. An American who had lived in London since the sixties, he was a folk music legend, playing with the greats such as Woody Guthrie, Pete Seegar and Ry Cooder. Despite increasing frailty, he still played regularly, appearing at clubs and in live session on radio. In September 2016, he joined us for the Cubitt 25th Birthday Street Party in Angel Mews. He sang and played banjo, fiddle and guitar all afternoon, both solo and accompanying kora player Daisy Burt, a beautiful combination of sound. He will be missed by us here at Cubitt and we send condolences to his family and many friends.
