CUBITT ARTISTS – Seeking to appoint new trustees
Cubitt is an artists-led organisation located in Islington, London, with a 25-year history as an innovative and forward-thinking place of practice for artists, curators, educators and the community. Cubitt’s success is underpinned by our unique organisational structure which includes a cooperative of nearly 30 artist members; an active board of trustees; and professional staff who lead the development and delivery of Cubitt’s public programmes.
Our public programmes include an internationally recognised gallery and curatorial fellowship programme as well as a community and education programme that further encourages engagement with artistic practice for a wider audience. Cubitt is one of Arts Council England’s national portfolio organisations and is further supported through funding from foundations, grants, private donations and earned income from programme activities.
The artists’ cooperative began Cubitt’s history in 1991 and it remains at the core of our structure and ethos today. Cooperative members inhabit the self-funded studios of Cubitt and continue to take active roles in the organisation’s governance and operations. Trustees and Cooperative members work together in running the charity’s sub-committees which from the trustee perspective is rewarding and very unusual in the art world.
We are seeking to appoint new trustees to lead Cubitt’s governance and other initiatives to strengthen Cubitt’s long-term sustainability. Experience in arts and arts education, community engagement, audience development, diversity and fundraising would be particularly relevant.
To apply, kindly send a brief statement of your interest, experience and qualifications to us by email at email@example.com. Further information about Cubitt and our activities is available on our website.
