In the first few sessions the pupils explored the format of the book, creating lots of small books using different formats and techniques, such as different sized and shaped pages, pop-up books, mixed up books and concertina books.
The pupils then took their own modified fairy tale story they had written in their writing sessions, and started to plan out their book.
They used different materials such as watercolour and pastel to create a pattern library, their own collection of decorative papers to use to create their collage illustrations.
The text was typed up and printed out and some pupils experimented with different ways to lay out the text in their book, thinking about size, shape and spacing.
The books were then bound together using a simplified japanese binding technique.
