For the fourth session of the CALLY RSVP project our Public Wisdom group took on a market stall on Cally Market as a platform through which to talk to local people and continue our creative consultation process.
We invited passers by to contribute their ideas on improvements to the Cally from their diverse perspectives – covering a range of ages and backgrounds, as well as people who are both new to the area and life-long Islingtonians.
We also encouraged people to add local points of interest to our Cally signposts, highlighting some unique elements of the Caledonian area which many using the road as a simple thoroughfare would not come across.
We collected directions and recommendations to places including Cally Pool, local nature reserve Barnsbury Wood, independent cafes, the Turkish deli, Meltdown – a gaming pub, the Cally market itself and many more.
There were some fascinating suggestions collected by our group through insightful conversations with students, traders,
shop-owners, town planners, parents, children, teenagers, newcomers, old-timers and many more in between.
