CALLY RSVP is a Public Wisdom project from Cubitt Education inviting local people over 55 to respond creatively to the Council’s plans for the redevelopment of Caledonian Road.
Elders and Community Coordinator Eleanor Shipman is inviting local people over 55 to a series of creative sessions to explore and share their imaginative responses through talking, walking, drawing, sign-writing and photography. The group will also host a market stall on Caledonian Road where they will be conducting vox-pop interviews with local people as well as creating temporary sign posts for real and imaginary local places.
The feedback and results gathered through this project will be fed back to Islington Council as well as potentially developing into proposals for future temporary or permanent public artwork or creative urban interventions.
This first session used the idea of a traditional community notice board as a platform to brainstorm initial thoughts and immediate responses to key points in the Council’s plans, as well as considering more abstract feedback such as what we smell, taste, see, hear and feel when we think of The Cally.
Next Mon 30th Sept we will meet at Caledonian and Barnsbury Overground Station at 3.45pm to continue our exploration of The Cally through a photography walk of the area. If you are a local person over 55, feel free to come and join us. Contact us for more information on 0207 278 8226.
