Summer School Exhibition Viewing:

This August the Cubitt Young Artists attended a 5 day summer school at CSM. The Summer School took place on 12th, 13th, 14th, 19th and 20th August 2013 with an official showing of the exhibition students had created on the afternoon of the final day. The focus for the summer school and exhibition was Installation Art.
Day 1 – Introduction to Installation practice
Introductory exercises to working in and with the space, the Young Artists responded to prompt words from Cubitt Education consequences cards.
Visiting artists: John Close and Charlotte Young
Day 2 – Considering the audience and flow through the space
Looking closely at the work of Jessica Stockholder and Sarah Sze, the Young Artists worked on installations concentrating on colour and scale
Visiting Artists: Giulia Ricci and CSM student ambassador Tolani
Day 3 – Photography trail to visit the Archive at CSM Kings X
The young artists worked in pairs as we walked from back Hill to Kings X, taking photographs along the way responding to 3 words from the Cubitt Education Consequences cards.
