Cubitt Education presents a major exhibition of artwork by over 70 older people who live in Islington or attend community centres in the borough. Someday is Today features over 130 pieces by 77 artists, the majority of whom have never shown their work in public before. The works range from seascapes to political commentary, from fantastical to autobiographical, and in a variety of mediums including traditional oil, watercolour, textiles, photography, drawing and chinese brushwork.
Someday is Today is a major event within our ongoing regular programme of high quality art workshops for local older people, particularly those most in need. The exhibition aims to celebrate the rich artistic talent of an older generation and highlights the depth of hidden creative activity within Islington. Join us at the opening event to meet the artists and celebrate what, for many of them, will be their first ever public exhibition.
Please RSVP by emailing education@cubittartists.
The exhibition is organised in partnership with:
Hornsey Lane Estate Community Centre, St Lukes Community Centre, The Peel Institute, Claremont Project, Sotheby Mews, Drovers Centre, Islington Chinese Association, Manor Gardens Welfare Trust and Arachne Greek Cypriot Women’s Group.

Public Wisdom Summer Picnic:
In celebration of the exhibition, and as part of our wider programme for older people, we’re holding a unique picnic on Islington Green, on Tuesday 23rd of July, from 11am – 1.30pm, followed by a secret choral concert in Culpeper Community Gardens.
The picnic will feature performances, a drawing class, spoken word, and food and drink. The event is organised Cubitt Education, in collaboration with Claremont Project, Age UK Islington, Angel and AIM and with thanks to the support of the Business Design Centre. It is part of our campaign to transform Angel into an ‘Age Friendly Town Centre’, and make it an accessible, fun, creative, and lively place for people of all ages.
Cubitt’s programme for older people is supported by the Baring Foundation, the Monument Trust, Islington Council and Arts Council, England.
