A workshop marking the end of a two-year long project, in which Cubitt Education artist Alexandra Hughes has been working with a class of GCSE pupils and their teacher, Soraya Insua, at Elizabeth Garret Anderson School. The project has expanded the possibilities of their GCSE curriculum- to enable the pupils to explore independent practice in different mediums, and produce individual bodies of work.
Games, exercises, and skills-based workshops have formed a backbone to the experimental projects: providing the students with insights into how artists work and think as independent practitioners. The project has had an extraordinary impact in the range and quality of the students’ work, and the working practice of the artists and teachers involved.
